Last night I fled to my mother-in-law’s for the night because of the severe storms in the area. I think we’ve established countless times how chicken shit I am when it comes to storms. Well, it’s seemed to double since Ian is out of town. If he was here with me, I’d be nervous but fine. I wouldn’t have the strong desire to leave the house every time thunder cracks or a Warning is issued.
When arriving home this morning, I realized I had locked myself out of the house. I only do this about.. oh, once a week? Usually I just climb up through the backdoor (no steps, so its quite a leap) and let myself in since that door’s lock is broken. Well today, it magically fixed itself. I yanked and yanked on that freakin’ door and nothing. Nada. Then I cursed and beat on it for awhile. That didn’t help either. My mother-in-law ended up opening one of our living room windows and shoving me through it.
I cringe at the thought of what our neighbors say about us.
Did I mention that while we were doing this, it was pouring the entire time? Yeah, that was fun.
But I’m in the house now. And I’m permanently attaching my keys to my wrist.
Today’s going to be another long day of storms. I hope Ian comes home early. I hate this working-out-of-town thing. I MISS MY HUSBAND. Dammit.
I guess I’ll go clean something. I’m that bored.

Aww, I’m sorry that you had such a bad experience last night and this morning. I’m glad that you were able to get back inside and that things are back to normal now!

I hate storms too! I don’t have a car so I’m stuck where I am when they hit, luckily we haven’t had anything too bad and the last time there was a really freaky one, hubby was home.

I really hate thunder storms too. I think they are scary. It’s good that you had somewhere to go! It sucks that when you finally got home, you locked yourself out. I would have been so mad. At least the good thing is that your lock is fixed now
I would hate to lock myself out. Luckily, we can only lock our door by using the key, so no worries there!

Wow, that doesn’t sound fun, being locked out in the storm. I’m skeered of storms too. I like to hide under things when the sky goes boom. Maybe you need one of those spare key holders that are passworded so a burglar can’t get it but you can if you get locked out?

Try hanging something near your front door that you can set your keys on, like a little mantle thing or something. Else if you have a table or something near the door, make a “key bowl”. In my old apartment I had a nail hanging by the door that I kept the keys on so I would always remember to grab them.

You know I’ve never managed to lock myself out and I’m so ditzy usually. It’s amazing I’m allowed keys to open a shop lol
I’d hate to have to ‘break in’ to my own house, I can just imagine the neighbours calling the police or something.

That sucks about getting locked out. Booo. Maybe you could get one of those keyholders that looks like a rock?
