Only 8 Days!
Posted on August 4th, 2008 @ 3:22 pm

On the 12th of August, Ian and I will celebrate our two year wedding anniversary. Question: for those of you who are married, do you still celebrate the day you and your partner started DATING or just the day you got married? Ian and I only celebrate our wedding anniversary. Probably because I’m the only one who knows when we started dating (*cough* May 2004). Note to self: must quiz husband when he returns home..

In light of the approaching date, I started thinking about gifts and celebrations. Then, out of pure coincidence, I came across Beth’s entry about HER anniversary. In it, she included a link to this site, which is actually pretty neat. It lists each anniversary 1-100 (100 years of marriage? seriously?) and appropriate gifts for each one.

So.

Mine would be this. It recommends cotton supposedly because its a sign of prosperity.

Okay. That’s great and everything. But there is no way I’m telling my husband to buy me something COTTON. You know whats prosperous? Diamonds. I think 2 years should be celebrated with something shiny, which cotton clearly is NOT.

Then it says this:

Gift Suggestions to Purchase for Your 2nd Anniversary:

* Cotton gloves.

* Cotton handkerchiefs or bandannas.

* Cotton T-shirts.

* Cotton plush towels.

* Canvas shopping bag or book bag.

* Cotton table cloth, napkins or place mats.

* Nifty looking cotton socks.

* Cozy cotton his and hers bathrobes.

* Rope hammock.

Seriously? Seriously? A hammock? “Nifty” socks? GLOVES? Excuse me, I feel the tears coming on..

I hope Ian is reading this and FEELING the sarcasm. No, sweetie, I don’t need any of the aforementioned. Except, well, the diamonds. Feel free to purchase diamonds whenever your heart desires. Please, I encourage it.

Now, the 100th wedding anniversary? That’s more my style:

100th Wedding Anniversary

Traditional Gifts:
Modern Gifts: 10K Diamond

I guess thats what marriage is. Sticking it out long enough to get that 10k reward at the end!

Just kidding honey.

Actually, Ian and I don’t go all out for things like that. Dropping $100 or more on gifts seems ridiculous to me. This year, I pre-ordered Madden 09 for Ian. For his birthday? A simple t-shirt that I knew he’d love (and he did).

What do I want? I wouldn’t say no to this or this. (Hint, hint dear husband) By the way, this one perfectly matches my wedding ring. I’m just sayin’. Don’t let the price tag deter you either. I said OVER $100. $99 is clearly under.

Now I just have to make him see them before next Tuesday…

Is emailing a blog entry too subtle? No? Great!
