I cannot believe that next week is the last week of May! I love the month of May for many reasons. One, in Wisconsin its the month where it finally (well, sometimes) stops snowing. Two, its usually full of birthday parties and other awesome events (*cough*MothersDay*cough*) Three, its time for all those fun outdoor activities to begin again!

I have to admit though, lately Ian spends a lot more time outside than I do. Last summer I did my fair share. Mariah and I would walk to a nearby park almost every day just to feed the ducks and then late summer the geese as well. However, now that I have Gabriel, I’m waiting for it to really warm up so I don’t have to worry about him getting sick from the chilly winds that we’ve been having. And no, I do not have any hats that fit him. I’ve tried and tried to find him one but its either way too small or way too big. He really has a melon head!

So.. Ian’s been going out during the weekends more and more this month. His favorite thing to do is play golf (four times in the last three days!) He’s pretty excited because he just bought new clubs on Friday so of COURSE he had to test them (and then test them again and again and again..). However, golfing around here is relatively cheap. It runs about $15 ($11 on Sundays). I’m not a golfer but that seems decent to me. I once read a blog entry where a woman complained that her husband spent $100 for a round of golf?? Wow…

Getting off the subject of golf and back onto outdoor activities, Ian also loves other sports. He was ecstatic to discover the old tenants left a basketball hoop in the backyard. He propped it up in the driveway and it works great! Another favorite of his is football, but as most of his friends are daddies/married/working its hard to round up enough guys to play.

And so I was thinking - he has to get bored of golf some time, right? Please just lie to me and tell me yes, he’ll get bored of it. I want to find something that both of us enjoy. Then it hit me - why not go paintballin’? Ian received a pretty nice paintball gun from my dad as a Christmas gift a few years back, but hasn’t really used it. Mostly it just sits in the trunk of our car while the tank takes up space in my freezer (until I took it out to make place for popsicles - its all about priorities).

A lot of people we know actually own paintball guns. My brother, a bunch of my male cousins, some of Ian’s friends.. We’re bound to find someone to go with us. The only thing is, I’d have to find a gun. So, I was shopping around online tonight and I think I found the website I want to purchase it from. Its www.pntball.com and the gun that I’m drooling over? The Tippmann 98 Custom. The set has everything I’d need.

Boy, I’d feel like a tough guy (pardon the ovaries) with that! Ian and his friends would squirm with fear. Or so I’d like to believe…

Anyway, I was also thinking about getting a couple other items. Mainly, the awesome paint bomb and paint mines. Is that creative or what? I didn’t even know such things existed until I was looking over the Tippmann products. It seems so sneaky.. Place a mine and snicker as someone walks into it and gets sprayed with bright blue paint.. :o

Well, I need to go discuss this with my husband. It’s a hefty purchase, but it seems like it’d be worth it. Now, to start saving money towards it. Stimilus check, now would be a great time for you to meet my mailbox!

What activities do you and your significant other do together?

Two Weeks

Gabriel is two weeks old today! I can’t believe it. My little boy is getting too big too fast. :( He now weighs 8 lbs 2 oz and is officially off the BiliBlanket. Thank God.. You have no idea how relieved I was to finally pack that Blanket away in it’s carrying case. DegenBurgland, please come get it now!

He’s still a good sleeper and as content as always. I wish I could get a picture of him smiling, it’s the cutest thing ever. He has dimples in both cheeks! I love it. :D This morning we were lazing about in bed and as soon as he opened his eyes, he gave me a huge grin (and then proceded to spit up all over me, but I forgave him).

I cannot believe it’s almost Christmas! My husband and I have not gotten anything yet! We’re not buying for that many people this year, though. With the new baby and other financial difficulties, we’re only getting a couple things. Our parents told us not to get them anything and we’re not exchanging gifts with each other either. We’ll probably just buy for our Secret Santa’s for my grandma’s Christmas and then get his brother something and Mariah and Gabriel something. Gabriel’s will probably be something like diapers. He’s way too little to know what Christmas is, so why not just buy something we need? Mariah will probably get a small gift since her grandparents all go ape shit over buying her toys - which she definitely does not need. She has one huge toy box full to the brim and about seven smaller toy boxes full of toys and books. We could have eight more kids and still have enough toys to go around. I now dread garage sale season because I know the grandparents will come to my house with bags full of toys. It’s what we get for having the first grandkid for both our parents, I guess. :P

Getting back to the present topic, I think Ian and I are going to try to get it all done this Saturday. We have to go to the city for his work’s Christmas party, so might as well do it then to save on gas.

I’m so excited for the Christmas party. It’s been way too long since I’ve been able to go out with my husband. Before, I was pregnant and felt like crap all the time. Oh, and being able to drink again will be nice, too. I just have to buy a breast pump so I can leave milk with my mom - and also so I can pump and dump if I do end up having a drink.. or two. :))
