13 Signs She’s Growing Up

1. She gets “big girl pannies” (but wears them on her head)..
2. She calls me by first name to get my attention. “Joo-wee!”
3. She has her own pet kitten and he’s her best friend. “He wikes me!” she declares while trying to shove him in the bath tub.
4. She tells me when she wants to go “ni-night” now.
5. She’s learned how to fib. See #4.
6. She’s started taking showers. “That was AWESOME!”
7. …Her new favorite word is ‘awesome’.
8. She dresses herself. See #1.
9. She learns how to manipulate what we watch on TV. I have now seen Spongebob 459,413,563 times. Maybe more.
10. Her cleaning skillz began to show. Thank you, Dirt Devil.
11. She can call Mommy and Daddy’s bluffs. Darn. What now?
12. She learns to channel deceased artists and her work shows up on all surfaces of the house. Nothing looks better on clean white walls than a scribble of lipstick. (Oh, and never let the grandma’s buy your kid art supplies. “Washable” just means laughable.)
13. She starts to remember your bribes even days later. *wince* Wasn’t it just yesterday she didn’t even remember my name?
