If something can go wrong, it will

Oh, it most certainly will. Last Friday, Ian was on his way to his friend’s house when our car.. uh, broke. The wheel fell off when he was taking a corner.

Nice, huh? Good thing he wasn’t going that fast. Mariah ALMOST went with him that day, too. She was being too naughty and I made her stay home with me. Its a horrible punishment, believe me. :P

So Friday was spent dealing with THAT, then later that night we went to AJ and Meghan’s for dinner. It was nice and everything, but at the end of it, it started to storm. So back home we went (came?). Then Saturday we had the wedding to go to. I frantically called my mom early Saturday morning and begged to borrow her truck since they have TWO plus a car plus a motorcycle. She said yes, so when my grandma arrived to pick up the kids for the night, Ian and I rode back to town with her. We sat at my moms for a bit, chatting about this and that before we decided to head to Wal-mart. I needed to get a black strapless bra to wear with my dress and I also found an adorable pair of earrings to match.

Upon arriving at the reception site, we realized we were a full hour early. We kept debating whether or not to wait or go do something. “You just know that as soon as we leave, someone we know will arrive..” I kept saying. Sure enough, once Ian had decided to go get an ice cream cone and we were pulling out, Meghan and AJ pulled in on the opposite end. By the time we got back, they were inside talking to Troy and his girlfriend.

Anyway. The reception was okay except I got WAY too drunk. We ended up leaving at 10:30! Sunday I was SO FREAKIN’ hungover, too. But I still got up and went to my grandparent’s 50 anniversary party that day. It ended up being a nice affair, lots of people I hadn’t seen since I was little. Mariah and Gabriel were both well behaved. Mariah ran around like crazy, chasing all the other little kids. Gabriel enjoyed trying new food (whipped cream: YES, scalloped potatoes: Funny face) and being held by every old lady in attendance.

Today I’m just happy to relax for a bit before I have my WIC appointment. Mariah is at my mom’s so it’s just me and my baby boy. I’m just chillin’ on the couch with a pan full of brownies. :)) Definitely the life!

Tis the Season.. for Marriage
Posted on June 18th, 2008 @ 11:11 pm

We have a two weddings to go to this month: one this weekend and one next weekend. Then I think we have a couple more from July-August. So when my dad and I went to Wal-mart today, I decided to get some dresses to wear to the upcoming events. I grabbed this one and this one. My dad generously offered to buy them for me, which was awesome of him. I’m wearing the black one this weekend. It’s my favorite out of the two. I’ll wear the other one next weekend. I can’t wait, I love weddings!

When we returned home, I realized I locked myself out of the house. Good thing Ian hasn’t fixed the back door yet. Since it doesn’t lock (the handle “locks” but you can still push it open), my dad was able to open the door, climb up (no back steps) and open the front door. Whew! Locking yourself out of the house is a HORRIBLE feeling. I’m just glad we got in quickly.. Never thought a broken door would come in handy. However, now that I’ve seen how easy it would be for someone to bust their way in our house, I think I’ll be begging Ian to repair the door… and have a hide-a-key made, of course!

Gabriel’s two bottom teeth have FINALLY pushed their way out of the gums. He has two little red spots where his dimples usually are at the moment, but he’s certainly a lot happier. And currently addicted to Gerber’s Peach Fruit Puffs. Mariah seems to think they’re cereal and usually devours half of the cannister every time she gets her little paws on it. Now I have to hide it whenever her back is turned.

So.. tomorrow I have a phone interview regarding our medical insurance, hopefully my stupid caseworker reactivates it. The kids have checkups coming up and I need my annual eye exam so I can get new contacts. I’m so sick of these glasses, too. I wish I could just take the entire stimilus check and buy myself Lasik. That’d be nice.
